I headed back to my apartment to freshen up and while I did that Hunter called from England. The dormouse sounded scared.

“What happened,” I asked.

“I just thought you should know… well… That business with the fingers. I’ve been visited more than once by some very intimidating wolves. Neither of them liked my interest in the case and were only partially mollified to find out I was a reporter.”

“Police?”

“More like MI6. The wolves didn’t threaten me, but they had a very threatening way about them. But one of them let slip for me not to go looking for… the others.”

“Good job, Hunter. And take their advice. Don’t go looking, okay.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t, having them show up on my doorstep is far too stressful for my taste.”
